About me

About Steven

I know form my own experience that starting counselling can be a daunting prospect and you may be wondering if this is the right path for you. I will listen to whatever you would like to talk about and I will help you to explore, understand and make sense of what is troubling you, in a safe and confidential space.

I work as a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor and I am focused on building a trusting relationship with my clients so that they can explore their thoughts, feelings and emotions with me. I am trained to use Person Centred, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt approaches. This means that I can use a range of counselling approaches to help with my client's individual needs. You can read more about these approaches on my counselling page.

I have experience of working with clients from diverse backgrounds and ages and have helped people to find clarity and guidance when stress, anxiety and depression are having an impact on their life. I also have knowledge and experience of working with relationships, sexuality and gender diversity.

I am a qualified counsellor and a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Being a qualified and registered member of BACP means that I adhere to their hight standards of profeciency, professionalism and good practice . More about me

Like so many other people I have had to deal with life situations that have caused me to feel down, upset or depressed. In my life i've had family bereavement which has caused me to feel immense pain and heartache as well as coming to terms with my sexual identity.

In 2012 I started my counselling training and become a qualifed counsellor in 2015 and since then I have worked as a counsellor for Carlton Academy and set up my own private practice. I also work as a volunteer counsellor for Chrysalis, a charity offering support to transgender people and their families.
